DEGREE PROGRAMS: MFA Programs in Design/Technical Production and Directing for Stage and Screen.

THE PROGRAM: A professional training program focusing on the preparation of artists and technicians for careers in theatre, film and television.  The faculty members continue to work as directors, actors and designers at the University and in regional and national professional theatres.  Students work closely with faculty and guest artists during the year and in the summer with the Nebraska Repertory Theatre. Members of MFA Directing for Stage and Screen program are eligible to serve as Artistic Director of Theatrix – a student run/produced company and/or be part of the NRT. MFA Designers design in the academic season and are eligible to design for the Nebraska Repertory Theatre seasons. Design or Directing for film opportunities are available throughout the course of study. A total of 8 plays are produced in the 2,200-seat Lied Center for Performing Arts, the 317-seat Howell Theatre, the 216-seat Johnny Carson Theater, the 200 seat Studio Theatre and the 161-seat Temple Lab Theatre. Recent renovations/additions included state of the art technology, a new Studio Theatre/Soundstage, Scene Shop, dimmer system and lighting control and upgrades in production and instructional facilities.
